Lowes gets works Kawasaki Suzuka Eight-Hours slot

Three-time Suzuka Eight-Hours winner Alex Lowes will use Kawasaki power for the first time at the July race when he joins Jonathan Rea and Xavi Fores in the factory team.

The squad have five wins between them and go in as reigning champions although Rea is the sole rider left from last year's victorious team.

"I’m really proud to be representing Kawasaki at the 2020 Suzuka 8 Hours Race. Obviously the team did a fantastic job last year winning the race, so I’m really looking forward to joining them to try and defend their title," said Lowes.

"It’s going to be the first time for me at Suzuka with the Ninja ZX-10RR, so I’m really looking forward to all of the Japanese fans support there, to help maybe make the race a little bit easier.”

The 2020 Suzuka Eight-Hours is due to take place over the weekend of July 18-19 when hopefully the coronavirus will be well past its sell-by date.

Run in high temperatures with high humidity, the Eight-Hours is one of the toughest motorsport events in the world.

“It’s a gruelling race, one that’s so tough mentally and physically. Winning the race in 2012 and 2019 whet my appetite to go back for more. So, together with Alex Lowes and Xavi Fores, we will take part with the Kawasaki Racing Team and target another win," said Rea.
