Ninth for Honda TT Legends at Bol d'Or

Honda TT Legends were left to rue what could have been at this year’s Bol d’Or after a late crash saw them drop to ninth place and fast laps from the trio of John McGuinness, Simon Andrews and Cameron Donald weren’t enough…

The SRC Kawasaki team eased to victory in the Bol d’Or opening round of the World Endurance Championship ahead of the SERT Suzuki Endurance Racing team with the Monster Energy Yamaha YART team in third place.

Julien de Costa, Gregory Leblanc and Olivier Four shared the ride on the winning Kawasaki and after completing 781 laps of Magny-Cours they were just 1m 41secs up on the battling Suzuki team.

“Not the result we came for but it was one of our strongest rides yet. We were holding fifth and looking good in very difficult conditions. It was a gruelling race with temperatures as low as 2 or 3 degrees through the night,” explained McGuinness.

“I got caught up in some of the bad weather and had to pit for tyres changes which meant I then had to do double stints with 50 or 60 laps at a time and that is hard work. We wanted to be a bit further up but at least we’ve picked up some world championship points."
