Jeremy McWilliams, on his 1982 Harris F1 won both Tahbilk International Challenge six lap races at Phillip Island today, but the Australians led by Cam Donald, Shawn Giles, Beau Beaton and Brendan Roberts are right on the pace with Donald and Giles second and third respectively in both races; and Beaton and Roberts taking positions 4 and 6 to establish a good start for the Australians.
The UK has also posted a number of top ten performances with Isle of Man star John McGuinness 7th and 8th, and Gary Johnson and Mike Edwards also in the mix.
Australia’s Steve Martin retired with engine failure (Ha - DM) in race one but scored a solid 7th in race two; while Robbie Phillis day ended early when he crashed his 1982 XR69 Suzuki going into haysheds on lap one.
Best performances for NZ came from Glenn Hindle (14th race one) and Damien Kavney (13th race two); while the top finishes for the US were James McKay with a 16th in race one and Rob Mesa 20th in race two.
