After a two year break, the famous race of the year returns this weekend at Mallory Park with a bumper cash prize and some of Britain’s finest riders on show.
PTR Honda team mates and World Supersport competitors, Sam Lowes and James Ellison, enter the round as favourites, and despite Sam’s confidence of not only winning but also taking the new lap record held by Tom Sykes, he will need to keep an eye on the opposition.
The Oxford TAG Triumph team in particular could spring a surprise or two on Sunday and with no less than five riders competing for them including Billy McConnell, Paul Young, Christian Iddon, Martin Glossop and Shaun Winfield, you wouldn’t bet against them having at least one rider on the podium around the friendly circuit.
Luke Stapleford is another rider to consider onboard his Profile Logistics Kawasaki but then you have the wild cards such as Phil Crowe, Peter Baker and Michael Robertson, who have all shown that they have British Superbike Evo pace when required.
The weekend isn’t only about one race though, the Thundersport GB Championship enters its next round of the season on Saturday and Sunday, with all of Sunday’s action being filmed on British Eurosport and Motors TV.
With action from the stars of the future in the Aprilia Superteens class and the all new Aprilia RRV450 GP Challenge, races from the two uber competitive 600 classes plus some great entertainment to come from the Thundersport 500’s and Streetfighters.... Mallory Park’s rejuvenation begins here with a high class event not to be missed.
Tickets for The Buildbase Race of the Year cost £23 in advance (£26 on the gate) for both days, or £11 in advance (£13 on the day) for Saturday practice and qualifying, and £13 in advance (£15 on the day) for race day Sunday 26th June.
