Former MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner’s return to racing lasted only a few minutes after a stuck throttle caused him to crash on his first stint in the 2015 Suzuka Eight-Hours.
Stoner went down on the approach to the hairpin, breaking his left scapula and fracturing his right tibia. The bike was too badly damaged to continue and his Musashi Honda team, who are the reigning champions, had to retire.
“Well my #Suzuka8H ended spectacularly!Stuck Throttle = Broken Scapula + Fractured Tibia and a few more tweaks. Sucks,” Stoner Tweeted.
“Sorry to my team @mickeyvdmark, Takumi Takahashi and the entire crew, they have worked too hard to end it like that. Thank you guys!”
