Leon Camier's Yoshimura Suzuki team taken pole position for the prestigious Suzuka Eight-Hours race in Japan tomorrow after a stunning lap from team-mate Josh Waters nicked it from the factory Honda squad.
Waters went round in a 2'07.704 which was nearly half a second quicker than the FCC TSR team for which Jonathan Rea is riding. Rea himself did a 2'09.147 and Camier a 2'08.969 while FCC's Kosuke Akiyoshi went fastest for them on a 2'08.169.
Monster YART are third quickest with Kats Nakasuga lapping in 2'08.352 but he was pushed hard by reigning British Superbike Champion and team-mate Tommy Hill who did a 2'08.566. Noriyuki Haga was somewhat slower, lapping in 2'09.833.
The SERT team were fourth and their fastest lap was by Yukio Kagayama on a 2'08.429 while Ryuichi Kiyonari put his Musasi Honda squad in sixth place with a 2'08.680.
Jason O'Halloran, a Metzeler National Superstock front-runner, was quickest for the Honda Legends team, putting them in 17th.
The top ten teams have one further free practice session tomorrow morning before the exciting Shootout Finale to determine the starting positions for Sunday's race.
