Milwaukee Yamaha MCE British Superbike star Josh Waters' YART team have taken pole position for the 2013 Suzuka Eight-Hours after the final top-ten trial Superpole, making it their second pole in successive years.
Waters' team-mate Kats Nakasuga lapped in an astonishing 2'06.817 to take top spot and put Michelin tyres in front of Bridgestone on their home turf.
Josh Brookes' Yoshimura Suzuki squad are in second place with a 2'06.960 with the MuSASHI HARC-Pro Honda team, which stars Leon Haslam, in third on a 2'07.260.
Haslam narrowly edged out defending champion Jonathan Rea and Ryuichi Kiyonari who will start from fourth on the FCC-TSR Honda after their lap of 2'07.302. Team BMW Theevent France start from fifth with Team Kagayama, with Kevin Schwantz, in sixth place.
Today’s programme at Suzuka was thrown off by a shower mid-day. Because of the condition of the track, the Top10 Trial session was cancelled and replaced by an ordinary qualifying session for the top ten teams coming out of the timed practice on Friday. The proceedings were therefore more relaxed than for a Superpole which is played out with one flying lap, but there was no shortage of excitement.
