VEAZEY TO PARTNER COUGHLAN IN SPANISH SUPERSPORT

Former Astro Kawasaki rider Paul Veazey will partner Kevin Coughlan in this year's Buckler CEV Spanish Supersport series in the Joe Darcey Honda team.

The 22-year-old has just finished five days' testing with the squad at Jerez and Valencia, and is now fully prepared for what he reckons is hte biggest year of his career to date.

“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Veazey. “The testing has gone really well, the team is great to work with and the CBR600RR is easily the best race machine I’ve ever ridden.

“I raced in the opening round of the series last year at Valencia and crashed out but I went back to Valencia earlier this week and lapped a full three seconds faster! The testing has left me really excited about the opening race and the year ahead.”

Veazey’s campaign begins with the first round of the CEV Buckler Spanish Championship at Albacete on April 17-19 and he is partnered in the Joe Darcey Team by Scottish rider Kevin Coghlan – runner-up in last year’s championship.

“Having Kev as a team-mate is great. During the testing we’ve worked well together and the experience has been so beneficial for me. At Valencia the two of us did a race simulation and I was really pleased with my own pace and lap times compared to Kev’s.

“I’m now really looking forward to racing with the team and I’m thankful to everyone who has supported my career so far and especially this year, to get this opportunity is superb and I’m sure it will help me get my career back on track.”
