The WorldSBK Hungarian Round that was planned for later this year has been cancelled, and will be replaced by a race in Estoril.
The Hungarian Round was due to be held at Balaton Park on 23-25 August, but its cancellation means that only the Portuguese Round at Portimao will be held in August.
WorldSBK said the cancellation of the Hungarian round was due to the track at Balaton Park not being finished in time for the race.
"Due to works at the Hungarian venue not being completed by the scheduled date (23 August - 25 August), Balaton Park will no longer host WorldSBK action," WorldSBK said. "Estoril’s round will take place a week before the season finale at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, making for an action-packed end of the season."
Estoril returns to the WorldSBK calendar for the first time since 2022 in place of Balaton Park, with its race scheduled for 11-13 October. That makes it the penultimate round of the championship, which will now end with back-to-back races, Jerez closing the season on 18-20 October.
After Portimao, the Estoril round will be the second Portuguese round of the year, and one of now five rounds to take place on the Iberian Peninsula.
