Can Oncu will start from pole position at Portimao on Saturday. Championship leader Tom Booth-Amos will start in 12th.
After starting the weekend on top of the timesheets in Free Practice, Can Oncu carried his momentum into Superpole. The Turkish rider claimed his first pole position with the Yamaha R9 in the Yamaha bLU cRU Evan Bros Team.
It was a Yamaha first and second in Qualifying as Lucas Mahias put his GMT94 Yamaha R9 into second place on the grid.
Federico Caricasulo was once again the top MV Agusta rider as he qualified in third on his Motozoo ME AIR Racing machine.
Jeremy Alcoba put his Kawasaki ZX-6R onto the front of the second row of the grid as he qualified in fourth.
Dutch rider Bo Bendsneyder could not match his pace from Practice and qualified in fifth place on his MV Agusta Reparto Corse machine.
Stefano Manzi will start from the rear of the second row after qualifying in sixth on the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing R9.
Ducati locked out the third row of the grid with Marcel Schroetter, Valentin Debise, and Jaume Masia qualifying in seventh, eighth and ninth.
Completing the top ten and starting from the front of the fourth row is Philipp Oettl on the Feel Racing Ducati Panigale V2.
