Donington BSB: Kent receives surgery for fractured hip

Buildbase Suzuki’s Danny Kent suffered a dislocated and fractured hip during Bennetts British Superbike visit to Donington Park last weekend.

Kent was running strongly inside the top-10 during Sunday’s opening battle before losing the front into Coppice, nine laps in. The 27-year-old was unfortunately collected by his own GSX-R1000R while in the gravel trap resulting in a transfer to hospital.

The dislocation was treated in the immediate aftermath on Sunday, with further surgery required for the fracture scheduled for today.

“It was a fairly nothing crash that’s left Danny pretty beaten up,” Buildbase Suzuki team manager, Steve Hicken, said on Sunday.

“They got him in and seen to pretty quickly at the Queens Medical Centre, to be fair, and he’s had one round of surgery. He’ll have another operation on Tuesday.

“At this stage it’s impossible to say how long he’ll be out for. We’ll see how Tuesday goes and go from there.”
