Jerez WorldSBK, Free Practice Two Results | Rinaldi ends Friday fastest, Bulega finishes in second with Razgatlioglu in fourth

Gold and Goose

Michael Ruben Rinaldi may be in his final World Superbike weekend but he still topped the timesheets on Friday.

The 2024 World Superbike Championship has arrived at its 11th and final round of the season. After 33 races there are still three more to go and a World Champion to be crowned this weekend at Jerez.

For the first time this season Michael Ruben Rinaldi ends Friday as the fastest man on track. The Italian will reportedly be in World Supersport in 2025 due to his poor 2024 season.

Championship challenger, Nicolo Bulega, ended his opening day in Jerez in second place. The Italian rider was 0.150 seconds behind Rinaldi, who used the Qualifying spec tyres.

Completing an Italian 1-2-3 was Danilo Petrucci in third place. The Barni Spark Racing Team rider clinched the Independent Riders Championship last weekend and could secure fourth in the Championship this weekend.

Championship leader, Toprak Razgatlioglu ended his Friday in fourth place. The Turkish rider had been strong all day and will look to secure his second World Superbike title on Saturday.

The top Yamaha rider was Jonathan Rea in fifth place on the Pata Prometeon Racing machine. The six-time World Champion seems to have found his way with Yamaha after a difficult season.

Dutch rider, Michael van der Mark, was just outside of the top five as he took his BMW to a sixth-place finish.

Italian riders Andrea Iannone and Axel Bassani set the same lap times as they finished in seventh and eighth.

In his last weekend with Bonovo Action BMW Garrett Gerloff ended his Friday in ninth place.

Completing the top ten was British rider, Sam Lowes, on the ELF Marc VDS Ducati.

There were six British riders outside of the top ten: Alex Lowes was in 12th, Bradley Ray in 18th, Scott Redding in 19th, Tarran Mackenzie in 22nd, Kyle Ryde in 23rd, and Tommy Bridewell in 26th.
