Reigning MotoGP World Champion, Jorge Martin, hopes to be back home 'very soon' after an extended stay in Qatar.

Jorge Martin looks set to travel home after spending the last two weeks in Qatar following on from the injuries he sustained in the Qatar Grand Prix.

After making his comeback at the Lusail International Circuit, the reigning MotoGP World Champion has once again returned to the sidelines. Martin will miss the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend at the Circuito de Jerez.

The Aprilia Racing rider was unable to return to his home after fracturing six ribs and suffering a pneumothorax. Martin crashed at Turn 14 in Qatar, and while on the floor, Fabio di Giannantonio made contact with the #1.

After his extended stay in Qatar, Martin has posted to social media saying that he hopes he can head home soon.

“Finally out of the hospital,” Martin wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you all for the messages and for supporting me through this tough time in my life.

“I’m still in a lot of pain, but everything is under control.

“I’ll stay in Qatar for a few more days as a precaution, and as soon as I can, I’ll head home to rest and be with my people.

“Hope it’ll be very soon.”

With Martin once again on the sidelines, he will be replaced by Aprilia Racing's Test Rider, Lorenzo Savadori. The Italian will join Marco Bezzecchi in the factory Aprilia garage for the fourth time this season after competing in the Thai, Argentine, and American Grands Prix.
