Italian WorldSBK, Superpole Results | Nicolo Bulega returned to pole position, Sam Lowes will start from the front row

Gold & Goose

Nicolo Bulega will start his home round of the World Superbike Championship from pole position.

For the second time this season, Nicolo Bulega has claimed pole position on Saturday morning. The Italian rider set the best lap of the session in the dying moments with his last flying lap.

Sam Lowes will start from the middle of the front row as he qualified in second place. The British rider nearly claimed back-to-back pole positions but lost out by 0.215 seconds.

Toprak Razgatlioglu was lingering outside the top ten after his first flying laps. However, the BMW rider qualified in third place after setting a good pace to deny Ducati a front row lockout.

Alvaro Bautista will head the second row of the grid after qualifying in fourth place. The factory Ducati rider has had a better Saturday than he did Friday, but has still not outqualified his teammate.

The top Honda rider in Superpole was Xavi Vierge from the Honda HRC squad. The Spaniard had been the second-best Honda in Practice but pulled out a great lap to go fifth on the grid.

Andrea Iannone had been around tenth place in the Practice sessions, but the Team Pata GoEleven rider was able to qualify in sixth place at Cremona.

The top Yamaha rider was not a Pata Yamaha rider but instead Remy Gardner from the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team. The Australian rider was able to qualify in seventh place on his Yamaha R1.

Andrea Locatelli will start from eighth place on the grid for his home round. The Pata Yamaha rider was not able to challenge for the front two rows and will start from the middle of the third row.

Iker Lecuona completed the third row after qualifying in ninth place and was 0.698 seconds off of Bulega's pole position lap time.

Michael van der Mark drastically improved in Superpole as he managed to qualify inside the top ten.

Five British riders missed out on the top ten as Scott Redding qualified in 11th, Alex Lowes was in 16th, Jonathan Rea was in 17th, Ryan Vickers was in 20th, and after a crash, Tarran Mackenzie will start from 22nd.
