Jose Antonio Rueda led the way in the opening session, and British rider Scott Ogden was able to finish in fourth place.
The opening session of the weekend for the Moto3 riders saw the Moto3 World Championship leader, Jose Antonio Rueda, take top spot for the Red Bull KTM Ajo squad.
David Almansa was able to put the Leopard Racing Honda into second place on the timesheets at the end of Free Practice One. However, he was 0.594 seconds behind Rueda's best race lap at the end of the session.
Angel Piqueras was in third place on the FRINSA - MT Helmets - MSi KTM. The Spaniard was 0.814 seconds behind Rueda's best lap time.
British rider, Scott Ogden, was able to end the opening session at his home Grand Prix in fourth place. The CIP Green Power rider was 0.828 seconds behind Rueda, but was in the mix in Free Practice One.
After returning to the podium last time out at Le Mans, David Munoz started his weekend at Silverstone in fifth place on the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP machine.
Joel Kelso will be chasing his first Grand Prix victory this weekend, after being denied in France. However, his weekend started in sixth place, and he was 1.236 seconds behind the best lap time in the session.
Alvaro Carpe and the Red Bull KTM Ajo squad ended the session in seventh place on his first visit to Silverstone in the Moto3 class.
The second Honda rider inside the top ten was Luca Lunetta on the SIC58 Squadra Corse Honda. Lunetta ended the session in eighth place and was 1.343 seconds behind Rueda.
Dennis Foggia was able to put the CFMoto Aspar Team inside the top ten as he finished in ninth place.
Completing the top ten was the Moto3 rookie, Guido Pini, on the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP machine.
British riders Eddie O'Shea and Max Cook were not able to make their way into the top ten. O'Shea was in 18th place and Cook had a difficult session and completed a flying lap and found himself in 25th.
