Alvaro Bautista could make a MotoGP return in 2026

The two-time World Superbike Champion has admitted that he is considering a role as a MotoGP test rider for 2026.

After being dropped by the factory Ducati World Superbike squad for the 2026 season, Alvaro Bautista is searching for a full-time ride for next year.

However, the Spaniard has been struggling to find a deal for 2026, and currently has no offers on the table for an eighth year in the World Superbike paddock.

Bautista's manager, Simone Battistella, has been in contact with Aprilia in recent weeks to offer the two-time World Superbike Champion's services to the Italian manufacturer as a MotoGP test rider.

Aprilia currently only have Lorenzo Savadori on their books as a test rider, and could copy other manufacturers by hiring a second rider to help with testing duties.

With the upcoming switch to Pirelli tyres in MotoGP, Bautista's knowledge of the Italian tyre manufacturer could come in handy for the Noale manufacturer.

Ahead of the Hungarian World Superbike Round, Bautista admitted to the media that he is looking at a return to MotoGP as a test rider.

"Battistella is also talking about that option as a test rider," Bautista confirmed to GPOne at Balaton Park.

"If I don't find space in the Superbike paddock, I should make alternative evaluations."

Ahead of the eighth round of the 2025 World Superbike Championship, Bautista finds himself in fourth place in the standings with 11 podium finishes to his name.
