Jorge Martin labels the Catalan Grand Prix as 'important' for his confidence

Gold & Goose

Jorge Martin continues to rebuild his confidence after his injuries and feels the Catalan Grand Prix will be an important weekend for him.

This weekend, Jorge Martin will return to the Circuit de Barcelona - Catalunya for the first time since he won the 2024 MotoGP World Championship at the venue in November.

However, for this weekend's Catalan Grand Prix, he will not be on a Ducati, but rather his Aprilia RS-GP, which he is still familiarising himself with.

The reigning MotoGP World Champion is coming off the back of a promising weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he scored his first points in a Sprint Race this season and finished the Grand Prix in fourth.

Martin is hopeful that if he is able to have the same approach to the Catalan Grand Prix as he did in Hungary, then he could be on for another positive weekend at a track where he has done well in the past.

"I can’t wait to get to Barcelona. I have many fond memories from last year," Martin stated.

"This is a track that I really like, where I have always done well in recent years.

"I’m beginning to feel more comfortable on the bike now, and I think that this will be an important race for continuing to build confidence, gain familiarity with the bike, and carry on with our path following the same approach we had in Balaton."

After competing in four Grands Prix this season, Martin finds himself 20th in the MotoGP World Championship with a best result of fourth and 23 points to his name.
