The 2025 Moto2 World Championship has been secured by Brazilian rider Diogo Moreira at Valencia.
At the final round of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship, Diogo Moreira has been crowned the Moto2 World Champion.
Throughout the majority of the season, it appeared the title would head to Manuel Gonzalez and the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP squad. However, the Spanish rider and German team made crucial mistakes at the Japanese and Malaysian Grands Prix, which saw them score no points.
Whereas, in the latter stages of the season, Moreira and the Italtrans Racing Team have been consistent and have not been outside of the top ten since the San Marino Grand Prix in September.
Moreira had a difficult start to the year as he did not claim a podium finish until the British Grand Prix in May. But during the season, he has claimed four race wins and five further podiums; he has not scored points on four occasions during the 22 races this season.
But it was his 11th-place finish at the Valencia Grand Prix that cemented his Moto2 World Championship. His title rival, Gonzalez, finished behind him in 22nd place, after running into rear tyre issues.
It was a difficult weekend for the Brazilian rider at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo as he struggled on Friday and did not make his way directly into Q2 in the afternoon Practice session.
On Saturday, Moreira was able to progress through from Q1 into Q2, but could only manage to qualify in ninth place, four places behind Gonzalez.
However, in the Grand Prix, the Brazilian rider was able to sit in and around the top ten and kept the pressure on Gonzalez, who was running inside the top five. However, Gonzalez ended up pitting after he dropped back through the order and was passed by Moreira.
