Alberto Puig has attempted to lower expectations for the 2026 Honda RC213V at the Valencia MotoGP Test.

Honda HRC Corporation boss Alberto Puig has attempted to lower expectations of 'massive changes' for the 2026 Honda MotoGP machine at the Valencia Test.

After a difficult 2024 season for the Japanese manufacturer, Honda was able to make big steps for the 2025 MotoGP World Championship with its RC213V.

Last year, all four Honda riders scored a combined 121 points across the 20-round season. However, after the 22-round season in 2025, the four Honda riders scored a combined X points.

As well as their significant increase in points during the 2025 season, the Japanese manufacturer was also able to become a podium contender this season and took a race win and three further podiums.

However, Puig has now attempted to lower expectations ahead of the first official test of the 2026 Honda RC213V, as he does not believe there will be 'massive changes' like there were for 2025.

"We are trying to go but step-by-step," Puig told the MotoGP world feed broadcast during Friday Practice in Valencia.

"Don’t expect massive changes. It has been like this through the year: at the beginning of the year, we said we would improve after the summer, and we did it.

"So, probably we have a step on Tuesday, but it’s going to be step-by-step."

After scoring more than nine points at the Valencia Grand Prix, Honda is no longer in the D tier of MotoGP concessions and will have fewer concessions for 2026. The Japanese manufacturer will not be allowed to change its engine mid-season or test with its race riders throughout the year.
