2026 Moto2 Dutch Grand Prix Results, Sunday: Race

Gold and Goose

Results from the race at the 2026 Moto2 Dutch Grand Prix at the TT Circuit Assen.

David Alonso came out on top of a dramatic Moto2 battle at Assen, beating Manuel Gonzalez by 0.024 seconds.

It was Alberto Ferrandez who made the early running, leading the early laps from Izan Guevara. Dani Holgado was the first Aspar rider to break through before Alonso cut through later on, but once the Colombian took point the battling behind allowed him to open up a gap of almost a second.

Once Gonzalez cleared the field and got to second, he was able to start bringing the gap down. Senna Agius got through into third as well, but was left by Alonso and Gonzalez initially.

Gonzalez caught Alonso as the race entered its second half and, after several laps behind the Aspar rider, Gonzalez hit the front.

Soon at the same time, Agius began closing in. It seemed that Alonso was fading, but with three laps to go he was still in the battle and after briefly losing second to Agius he reclaimed it heading into the penultimate lap thanks to a mistake at turn seven from the Australian.

Alonso attacked Gonzalez heading into the final chicane on the penultimate lap, but ran wide and lost momentum. Agius was forced off-track as a result but stayed in touch, while Gonzalez kept the lead.

The championship leader then rode a brilliantly defensive last lap, making no mistakes and covering the inside in all the overtaking opportunities, including the last chicane.

But Alonso saw the space around the outside and took it. He ran wide again, having to slow at the second part of the chicane, but he did not go off-track.

The move slowed up Gonzalez and Agius as well as they had no way around the Colombian when he slowed at the second apex. Gonzalez almost beat Alonso to the line, but Alonso just held on for his first win of the season.

Behind the podium battle, Izan Guevara took fourth place ahead of Ivan Ortola, Dani Holgado, Adrian Huertas, Filip Salac, Collin Veijer, and Alberto Ferrandez in the top-10.
