Tarran Mackenzie will not go to Cremona for the Italian WorldSBK, the MGM Ducati team has confirmed.
Mackenzie has been unable to race since he suffered several fractures in FP2 at the UK WorldSBK at Donington before the summer break.
He tried to ride at the French Round in early September but was declared unfit on Thursday. He was not replaced because of the lack of time the MGM team had.
At the Italian Round, Loris Baz will step in at MGM Ducati as Mackenzie will not attempt to be passed fit to ride.
Baz has previous experience with the German team, having ridden for it in 2023 when it was a satellite BMW team. The Frenchman will head to Cremona after retiring with two hours to go at the Bol d’Or last weekend, where he rode for the ERC BMW team.
“While Tarran [Mackenzie] is still recovering from the injury he sustained at Donington Park and already had to sit out Magny-Cours, an old friend of MGM Racing and well-known WorldSBK rider returns to action this weekend at Cremona,” reads a statement from the MGM team.
“Loris Baz will replace Tarran Mackenzie for round 10 of the 2026 season aboard the MGM Optical Racing Team’s Ducati Panigale V4. Welcome back, Loris!
“Meanwhile we’re wishing Tarran a speedy and full recovery and are looking forward to hopefully having him back with us for the final two rounds of the WorldSBK season.”
Mackenzie will have another two weeks after the Italian Round before the first of two back-to-back Iberian rounds in Estoril that will conclude the season in October.
