Relentless Suzuki's Josh Brookes has admitted he was trying to bit too hard in yesterday's second British Superbike race at Oulton Park where a crash converted his GSX-R1000 into a missile at Brittens which nearly nerfed off leader Stuart Easton.
Brookes had allowed the Evo bike of Alex Lowes to get in front of him and, after re-passing the youngster, set about chasing down Easton's MSS Colchester Kawsaki but leant on the brakes too hard going into the chicane, folded the front and could only watch as it rocked skywards.
"I'm still trying to figure out exactly what went wrong. I must have just had too much brake while turning with too much corner speed. I was just trying too hard I think," said Brookes, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning from his Irish pied a terre.
"It frustrating because that's the second time I have expensively let the team down in the space of a week. I wasn't even thinking about putting a pass of Stuart, I just wanted to catch him and see if I could slide past somewhere."
