Loris Baz 1'20.264

HM Plant Honda's Shane Byrne showed his experience and got in a fast, early lap to set pole at Croft's British Superbike round today before the rain came down and ruined everyone else's chances of getting in front of the wily veteran.

After some spots of rain in the second session, a pitlane delegation of riders was sent packing by race direction and the session began only for the heavens to open after a couple of minutes. Swan Yamaha's Michael Laverty got a lap in to take second while Loris Baz goes from the front row for the second race in a row.

Michael Rutter will start his Rapid Ducati from the final slot on row one while MSS Kawasaki's Stuart Easton is sixth, Dan Linfoot seventh and the injured Tommy Hill in eighth. John Hopkins and Peter Hickman rounded out the top ten.

Qualifying two

Michael Laverty 1'20.045

Tommy Hill 1'20.174

Dan Linfoot 1'20.287

Linfoot, who crashed this morning, made the paddock drop its collective bacon sandwich with his 1'20.287 which topped the table until Laverty and Hill pushed him down with their respective fastest laps of the weekend. Josh Brookes thought he had saved himself from relegation until Hickman went ninth fastest and put him back on the edge in tenth.

The Aussie's former HM Plant team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari was eliminated after struggling through the first session and failing to put in a lap to go through to the third. Westmoreland also ensured the Relentless Suzuki man didn't make it into the top ten, going ninth fastest with his final effort.

WFR Honda's Alex Lowes crashed unhurt at Tower while fellow Evo man Simon Andrews' PR Kawasaki was meatball flagged with a technical problem with five minutes left. Scott Smart was the third fastest Evo rider.

Qualifying one

Michael Laverty 1'20.354

Stuart Easton 1'20.656

Tommy Hill 1'20.748

It was the usual suspects to top the session with Laverty nicking top spot from Easton with his final run and setting the second fastest time of the weekend so far. Lowes was running in the top three for half of the session until Hill and Rutter bumped him into fourth place.

Kiyonari left it until his final lap of the first qualifying session to haul himself from 21st to 14th place which dumped Buildbase BMW's Ian Lowry into the drop zone while HM Plant boss Havier Beltran is now be on his way to the medical centre for some oxygen. Kiyo can't rely on his old settings and is also struggling with the new fly-by-wire system.

It was bad news again for Jenny Tinmouth. She was in collision with Evo runner Patric Muff at Clervaux right at the start of the session and she was eliminated. She was unhurt but it is not known how badly damaged her bike is.
