Croft BSB: Medical team 'amazed' by heroic Hill

Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill has amazed the British Superbike medical team at Croft by not only getting on his bike to take part in both races but managing to come away with a sixth-placed finish and setting some fastest laps.

The Lingfield man, who doctors passed fit on Friday morning, is still in serious pain from the Oulton Park crash and was setting race pace laps that shouldn't have been possible given the discomfort he was in.

"Serious injury, serious pain and functional problems in his left shoulder would leave a lot of people too debilitated to do anything. Most riders would have been able to get on the bike but not only did Tommy ride, he amazed us with how well he performed," said chief medical officer Dr Heike Romer, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"With help from the medical team, in particular the physios who strapped him exactly how he needed to be, (crew chief) Mick Shanley guiding bike setup and most importantly a massive dose of self-belief, Tommy ran laps in the second race that could have put him on the podium if he wasn't starting so far back on the grid after the first race. Awesome riding."
