Thruxton BSB: Farmer retains championship lead with third win

Farmer Racing's Keith Farmer continued his domination of the Metzeler National Superstock 600 champsionship at the wet Thruxton circuit this afternoon by taking his third consecutive win by over five seconds.

It was Farmer, from the third row who instantly flew through the pack to take the lead, just two corners later ahead of Connor Behan of Kawasaki Team Green, Team Haribo's Johnny Blackshaw and pole position man James East of East Racing.

Farmer immediately pulled a gap which he constantly increased to never be seen again by other rides until the chequered flag. Wainwright tried an early outside move that didn't work putting himself off track slightly but fortunately was able to rejoin in his original position of fifth to ensure no advantage was gained.

Blackshaw, Behan, Hastings, Wainwright and East were wheel to wheel, who led into the corner was not necessarily who led on out. Whilst Farmer was still untouchable, Wainwright recovered from his mistake to get ahead of the guys to sit in second. From that point onwards his biggest challengers were East and Behan for a few laps.

It was Wainwright who set his fastest lap on the last lap to take second picking up his first podium of the season along with Behan who grabbed third ahead of pole position man East in fourth. Jake Newstead of Team tinklers worked his way up through the grid to grab fifth ahead of Hastings, Appleyard/Macadam's Deane Brown, Cody Nally of Nally Racing, Blackshaw who had lost a few places earlier in the race followed by Ferris Racing's Grant Whitaker rounding off the top ten.

Farmer still holds the championship lead ahead of East and Behan, Burke sufferened this weekend with his unexpected and no doubt frustrating 24th place finish seriously effecting his championship standings but we are sure not for long.
