Sorrymate Honda's Dan Linfoot has said he is pleased with his 21-point haul at Thruxton's British Superbike round last weekend and wasn't too displeased with losing a podium spot to ex-MotoGP man John Hopkins.
Linfoot rode beyond his years all weekend and finally looks to have laid his crashing demons to rest as he mastered the tricky wet/dry conditions, scrapping with the likes of Hopkins, Laverty and Rutter in both races.
In the second outing, the Harrogate toast-rack took advantage of a couple of crashes to move into a podium spot but his rear tyre was shot and had to give best to Hopkins, who has stood on the MotoGP podium more than once, as they went into Club for the penultimate time.
"Well, I did get mugged for the place but at least I got mugged by a MotoGP legend! No, to be fair, my rear was shot in the second race so there was nothing I could do about John or Tommy so I just rode for the points," said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.
"With race day being wet it was a bit like Croft in terms of uncertainty but the team worked well in the short bit of practice we had and to end up with 21 points from the two races is brilliant.
"I'm not doing a season-long rain-dance or anything like that but it felt good to run right at the front. I reckon we can do it in the dry as well and now I know I have the pace of riders like John."
