Shane Byrne: “I’m really pleased but all credit has to go to the Airwaves Ducati team. They were tricky conditions today and we took a bit of a gamble, with 10 minutes to go I was in 3rd and the track was in a transition period going from wet to dry. We decided that I would go out on a softer tyre, do one steady lap and then go for it; it was a decision that paid off. Tomorrow I would prefer the conditions to be either wet or dry but either way I know that the Airwaves Ducati team have it covered.”
Karl Harris: "I really struggled to get a clear lap, it was so trafficy out there and I just couldn’t find any clear space. We’ve got a really good race set up for tomorrow and I’m confident that we can get a good start and make up the shortfall."
Leon Camier: "Physically I felt better this afternoon and I am satisfied with how I have gone in qualifying. I have a few things to work on and some wet settings to improve but I am hoping it stays dry tomorrow. I don’t feel that far off and I am not disappointed with my performance as I feel there is more to come. This has been my first time out in the wet on the Airwaves Ducati and the Pirelli’s so 6th is good enough and as long as I get a good start in the race I should be up there.”
Leon Haslam: “I’m over the Moon with that to be honest! We’ve made some more progress from Brands Hatch and I’m really confident for the races tomorrow as in wet or dry we’ve been in the top two. The track and the conditions do make things difficult for us, as it’s hard to gauge the grip you’ve got out there in changeable conditions and it’s such an abrasive circuit it can tear your tyres up. Our race runs have shown that we’re consistent and in qualifying we were P1 until the dying moments, so I’m confident I can win both races.”
James Ellison: "It’s turning into a difficult weekend again. We’re still trying to find a good setting and I’m not comfortable on the bike just yet but we’re not too far away. It’s a fast pace out there so we need to be on the money to get some good results. I’m hoping for a dry race tomorrow as we’ve still got a lot of work to do with the settings, but we’re getting there."
Cal Crutchlow: “I’m really pleased with that today! Qualifying didn’t go exactly to plan and with hindsight I think I could have been higher up, but it’s not too much of a drama. We’re on the inside of the front-row and ready for the first corner which is the place to be. Conditions have been tricky today – in the half-and-half conditions we’ve been riding in it can be really greasy out there. It’s better if it’s completely dry or fully wet. I’ve said before that two podiums are the aim for tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to sticking the HM Plant Honda Fireblade on the podium!”
Guy Martin: "I’m still struggling with the front end and I’ve got not a lot of confidence in the bike at the moment, especially in the wet. We’re trying to get a better feeling in the forks but we can’t do anything drastic. We missed the first session on Friday due to a misfire but good things come to those who wait and it will come."
Tom Sykes: “The session started out OK but I decided to try a harder rear tyre which didn’t feel great. I got a clear run out to the back of the circuit and was in fourth gear when the rear let go. It took up a lot of the session trying to get back out again on my number two machine. The third row of the grid is not where I had expected to be but it is a long race and I’m going out there tomorrow to bag as many points as possible."
Atsushi Watanabe: "This is my first time on Pirelli tyres in wet conditions and on UK circuit in rain. I wanted better position but on my last try for fast lap there were many slow riders. Lots of different conditions on track too, some drying lines and some wet lines. I’m still learning but I think I can go faster tomorrow.”
