Cal Crutchlow: “Both the team and myself have worked so hard for this. I’ve had a pretty good off-season and I’ve been training hard. Apart from the hand injury things have been going very well. In the first race Shane Byrne kept me honest, I led for the first half of the race but second was the best we could do. In the second race I managed to get away and kept a pretty consistent gap of around two seconds right until the end. Big thanks to HM Plant Honda and all my personal sponsors. I’m confident there’s more of this to come!”
Leon Camier: “It’s been a good start to the season for me. Colin has been setting me goals throughout this weekend and I have achieved them all so I am pretty happy. It was a realistic result for me today, considering my injuries and everything that has happened, and now we have gathered some really valuable information for the next race which is something I had been lacking. I am going to go away and work on getting fitter and stronger and look forward to Oulton Park; it’s a circuit I like and I think I can achieve a good result.”
James Ellison: "I’m happy enough. If we’d had a couple more laps in the last race I could have got up a couple more places. We made a lot of big changes between Saturday and Sunday which normally you don’t do but we needed to make some time up. I’m pleased for Shaun, Hydrex and Bike Animal and it’s good to put a good show on for them. I feeling happy going into the next round."
Leon Haslam: “We managed to salvage a fourth place which is disappointing considering what we should have been celebrating. In the second race the result was out of everyone’s hands, it was an electrical problem and that’s that. I’ve never started well during a season but have been at the front come the end of the year, so I’m confident that’s still the way it’s going to be. We may be some way back of the leaders, but we have some points and when I get more confidence with the four-cylinder bike I’m sure I’ll be winning. I do think that Oulton will suit the Honda more, so I’m feeling pretty good for the next round.”
Shane Byrne: “I’m really happy with race one but I am gutted that I didn’t get the win in race two! Race one was great and everything went to plan, credit must go to the Airwaves Ducati team as my bike has felt good all weekend and I knew I was capable of a winning performance. I am pleased with the first and second but I would have been happier if I had got a better start after the red flag and not let Cal Crutchlow get away from me. I had been leading before that so I reckon I was on for a double win but these things happen and I am really pleased to be leaving Thruxton as championship leader; bring on Oulton Park!”
Guy Martin: "We put some new front forks in last night and the first race was just to get the gist of where we wanted to be. We took a step in the right direction so for the second race we made some more adjustments and it worked again so we made another step in the right direction. We’ll just keep plugging away, it’s going to come and I’m going to make myself a short circuit rider! The team has worked so hard, especially Warren, Kate, James and Havier so thanks to them."
Michael Rutter: "It’s a mega feeling to be back up at the front and it’s been a long time coming. The whole team have worked so hard all weekend and this is a awesome result for everyone. I couldn’t have asked for better and I am confident we can continue this form through the rest of the season. I’d like to thank the whole team for working so hard this weekend and really pleased I could pull two good results out of the bag for them. I’ve had a few difficult years and I’m loving being back on a Ducati."
Tom Sykes: “In race two I got a superb start from the third row of the grid and was up to fourth place. The bike felt really good as we had made some changes from race one. Unfortunately Leon Haslam changed his line in front of me and I had no where to go and ended up crashing heavily. I was a little battered and bruised but otherwise OK so I got out in the restarted race on my spare bike and started from the front row. I got the hole-shot and thought I could settle in but struggled for rear grip and the tyre started delaminating. The vibration got too bad so I dropped off the pace and just nursed it home for the points. I’m really gutted for my team as they worked hard this weekend and we didn’t get the result we had hoped for.”
Atsushi Watanabe: “For me this is very bad result, my lap times improve but I’m not happy with 17th and 14th,” he said. “My team is working well and I’m very happy with that. It was good to race I now understand BSB race and riders.”
