British Superbike title contender Cal Crutchlow has been drafted into the Moriwaki Honda team for the prestigious Suzuka Eight-Hours endurance race in July.
He is out in Japan now testing alongside team-mate Leon Haslam and Ten Kate world supersport star Jonathan Rea. It’s thought that Haslam will be paired with reigning BSB champion Ryuichi Kiyonari. It will be an interesting switch for all three riders as, although they will be on Hondas, the tyres of choice will be Dunlop.
Speaking from Japan this morning, he said: "This is going to be my first Suzuka Eight-Hour race and I can’t wait. I’m riding for the Moriwaki Honda team and they’ve got so much history - not just as a team but in the Suzuka race itself. Unlike Leon who’s also racing the Eight-Hour, I’ve never been here before an it’s a helluva circuit."
Crutchlow will also race in the 300km of Suzuka this weekend.
