Jon Kirkham 1'48.320

Samsung Suzuki's John Hopkins took his first ever British Superbike pole position at Snetterton this afternoon and set the quickest ever time at the Norfolk track in the process. He was more than half a second faster than Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill with the second Samsung bike of Jon Kirkham in third.

Relentless Suzuki's Josh Brookes made it three GSX-R1000s on the front row with his 1'48.457 while Motorpoint Yamaha's Loris Baz was fifth and a very angry Shane Byrne in sixth. The HM Plant Honda man rolled up pitlane and pointed to his rear tyre, indicating a problem with it.

The second Motorpoint bike of James Westmoreland is seventh, Ryuichi Kiyonari eighth, Chris Walker ninth and Alex Lowes tenth.

Qualifying two

Shane Byrne 1'47.885

John Hopkins 1'48.160

Josh Brookes 1'48.261

Byrne became the first man in the, albeit brief, history of the new Snetterton 300 to dip into the 1'47s laps with his 1'47.885 which was three-tenths faster than Hopkins and Brookes who is unable to put the sticky SC0 tyre to good use with his current setup.

MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Gary Mason put himself into tenth with his final lap but team-mate Alex Lowes went into eighth on his last circulation which pushed the Lichfield man out. Michael Laverty was also put out by Lowes' lap. Other big names to go missing included Michael Rutter and Dan Linfoot.

Qualifying one

Jon Kirkham 1'48.511

John Hopkins 1'48.539

Shane Byrne 1'48.536

Kirkham set the fastest lap of the weekend so far with his second flyer and demoted team-mate Hopkins from the top of the timesheet. Byrne also only did a handful of laps to secure his place in the second session with Hickman showing his early pace with just one fast lap.

Andrews left it until his last lap to make it through, lapping in 1'50.179 go to 19th which saw the WFR Honda of Glen Richards knocked into the exclusion zone and Steve Brogan into 20th. Scott Smart made it out on to the track for one lap as his bike was still in bits 10 minutes before the session started but didn't register a time.
