Kendal's James Ellison will have his first run out on the Sorrymate.com Honda in British Superbike first practice at Oulton Park tomorrow and has already stated he knows it is not going to be easy but he will be riding as hard as he can.
The 2009 BSB runner-up is helping out long-time sponsor and team boss Robin Croft for the rest of the season while continuing to race in World Supersport for the Bogdanka PTR team where he has had mixed results but has finally figured out what the problems are.
"We made a map in Australia for the wet which leaves the throttle open so it behaves like a two-stroke in corner entry but that then got used as a base map for the rest of the year until we figured that was the root of the problems we had but we didn't work it out until Misano," said Ellison, speaking to bikesportnews.com from behind a tin of beans this afternoon.
"So now we are running a different map. We have had one or two other problems which have got in the way but now one person is going to look after the whole bike and I am just going to get on and ride it.
"This weekend will not be easy bit I'm going to push. I want to be on a Superbike on the world stage very soon and the reason for going to World Supersport was for that. It won't happen now so I want to show people I can still ride a Superbike, plus I can help Robin out too as he has always been a big supporter of mine.
"It is hard enough to do well in this championship but I am used to riding lots of different bikes. In 1998 I did Supersport, CB500s and Superteens. I won two and was top ten in the other so swapping bikes isn't going to bother me. I am going to push this weekend and aim for the podium."
