MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Gary Mason is confident he will build enough points over the coming rounds to make it into the Showdown and thinks it could be a straight fight between himself and Josh Brookes for the last spot.
Mason currently sits in tenth on 79 points while Brookes is sixth but only 12 points in front of the Lichfield man. Mason has Jon Kirkham and Peter Hickman between him and the Aussie as current seventh-placed man Stuart Easton is sidelined. Mason took third in today's second BSB free practice session at Oulton Park but struggled with the soft tyre on his last lap.
"It could come down to a straight fight between Josh and I. This weekend will be interesting be because he is quick round here and I love the place. We've been quick all day so I am confident of a good last session and qualifying tomorrow," said Mason, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.
"It's good to have Andrew (Pitt) back in the garage. We've done everything we needed to do today in terms of race pace and went out on the soft tyre at the end but for one or two reasons I couldn't make it work as well as I wanted but I still managed a fairly fast lap."
