Oulton BSB: Upbeat Laverty 'hopes to be back on a bike soon'

Buildbase BMW's John Laverty is in good spirits following his massive crash at Oulton Park on Friday morning and subsequent surgery in the evening to fix a series of injuries.

The Toomebridge rider collided with the pit-wall in the first British Superbike free practice session and, after initial treatment at the circuit medical centre, was taken to Countess of Chester Hospital where he was joined by wife Leona last night.

"I'd like to thank all the fans for their kind wishes and messages, they've been a great boost to my spirits. I had a pretty nasty crash and have bashed myself up a fair bit, but I'm hoping I can be back on the bike as soon as possible," said the Irishman.
