British Superbike race director Stuart Higgs has been forced to call a halt to proceedings at today's Oulton Park round as, due to the amount of water falling out of the sky, the track is unable to drain properly making it too dangerous to run any further races.
After a meeting of the team liaison group and a final track inspection, it has been decided to bolt a third race on to the schedule at Cadwell Park which will take place on the Saturday after qualifying.
"We have done everything possible to get racing back underway today, but unfortunately with the weather across the country today we have had to postpone the races. I want to thank the dedicated team and fans at Oulton Park for doing everything to try and continue with the event, despite the terrible conditions they were up against. The Racesafe marshals dealt with several incidents today and they did a great job to ensure that some racing could still take place for the fans both at the circuit and watching at home," said Higgs.
