British Superbikes to adopt Evo rules with mild engine tune for 2012

British Superbikes have moved closer to adopting current Evo-class rules across the board for the 2012 season with the addition of regulations that allow top-end tuning including cam lift and duration work. The spec-ECU from Motec will remain and there will be a rev limit.

Evo will be the base model with the addition of the camshaft work and the rev limit is to be set at around 750rpm above the manufacturer standard.

"The new regulations are yet to be fully ratified by the MCRCB, but we have now concluded with the manufacturer and team liaison groups that we see this as the best way forward. It gives the teams some flexibility with their engines but retains the cost limiting factors we need to keep the championship competitive," said series director Stuart Higgs, speaking to bikesportnews.com at Silverstone's World Superbike round.
