MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Gary Mason missed out on a British Superbike Showdown place a handful of points at Cadwell Park after a nightmare weekend full of engine and electronic problems saw him unable to compete as he had wished.
The Lichfield man was full of promise and confidence going into the meeting with some engine upgrades installed for a track at which he has proven pace but the gremlins and problems which have been a feature of his season re-appeared and he will now have to fight woith Jon Kirkham for seventh.
"This weekend has been a nightmare. In qualifying we had engine issues then during the race we suffered from fuelling problems. We needed a slice of luck to get into the top six and we got the opposite. However the sad news about Ben Gautrey puts it all into perspective, my thoughts are with his family and friends," said Mason.
