Motorpoint Yamaha have handed Alex Lowes a British Superbike lifeline and given him a seat alongside Tommy Bridewell for the rest of the 2011 season after he split with the MSS Colchester Kawasaki team at Cadwell Park.
It has not been an easy year for the Lincolnshire rider. Starting off with the WFR Honda team in BSB-Evo, he went through a well-publicised split with them before landing a stand-in ride with MSS as a replacement for Stuart Easton and then with Castrol Honda in World Superbikes after Jonathan Rea hurt himself. The Motorpoint seat should give him some stability for the final three rounds only riding in one championship.
“This is an amazing opportunity for me, 2011 has been a roller coaster season with some very steep learning curves, everyone I have worked with over the year has been great and I thank them for giving me the break, circumstances now have given me the chance to get one of the best bikes in the championship and I really want to pay Rob and the Motorpoint team back for there belief in me," said Lowes.
