Eighth for Linfoot as Spanish Moto2 results improve

Yorkshire pitchfork Dan Linfoot bagged a hard-earned eighth place in the CEV Moto2 round at Albacete last weekend and says that with two more days' testing to finally get used to the 'weirdly-profiled' Michelin tyres, he should be able to challenge for a podium.

Linfoot, who will come back into the British Superbike Championship with Tyco Honda at Silverstone next weekend, finished a little over 15 seconds behind Carmelo Morales but reckons with more experience on the bike he can climb the results sheet.

"The Michelins take some getting used to as they have a weird profile which doesn't inspire much confidence. I had ridden the bike on Dunlops before and we had to make all sorts of suspension changes to eliminate chatter in the last test," said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com from somewhere he was pretending was the gym.

"We were losing a little under a second a lap to Morales, which isn't bad as he knows the place inside out. I would have been seventh but the race was red-flagged so it was put back a lap. I'm happy, though, because we have made a lot of progress.

"The bike itself is like a 250 on the way into the corner but with the way the tyres are, you have to pick it up like a Superbike on the way out. We were also 11km/h down on top speed, which doesn't help, so once we've had some more time and found some horses, we can run at podium pace."
