Moira's Ian Lowry put himself firmly in the British Superbike shop window this afternoon by winning both the Superbike races at Bishopscourt's Sunflower Trophy and setting a new outright lap record in the process.
Lowry won the opening race by four seconds from Relentless Suzuki's Alastair Seeley with Cody Nally in third while in the Sunflower Trophy race itself, he cruised to the win by more than ten seconds over Parkalgar Honda's Sam Lowes in his World Supersport Honda.
The former British Supersport Champion did match Lowry's laptime of 1'23.5s in the race while Gearlink Kawsaki's Danny Buchan claimed the final podium spot. Seeley didn't take part as he was knocked out in a crash during the Supersport race, also won by Lowes ahead of Glenn Irwin and Keith Farmer, after a last-corner tangle with Jack Kennedy who broke his collarbone.
Nigel Percy took victory in the 125/Moto450 race with Brian Moulds and Adam McLean joining him on the podium. William Dunlop took the 250cc race ahead of Percy and Richard Glasgow while Stephen McAdoo won the Supersport 400 race from Alvin Griffin and Daryl Duffy.
Ben and Tom Birchall bagged the Sidecar race from John Clarke/Stuart Graham and newly-crowned British Champion Tim Reeves, partnered by Ashley Hawes, was third. Jamie Hamilton beat mentor Ryan Farquhar to the Supertwins win with Jeremy McWilliams making it an all MWR Kawaskai podium.
