Primo Bournemouth Kawasaki have taken the unanimous decision to carry on with their plans for the 2012 British Superbike season despite team manager Dan Cheevers being arrested and charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine, and remanded in custody.
It is not yet known who will ride for the team but at a meeting, it was decided by all the directors to continue with their BSB programme.
The team issued a statement this morning which reads:
Statement issued of behalf of Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki Racing without prejudice.
Pr1mo directors Mr Joe Giammasi and Enzo Chiarelli along with Bournemouth Kawasaki Director Peter Extance were shocked and stunned about the news surrounding the then Pr1mo Kawasaki Team manager Mr Danny Cheevers that he had been arrested and accused of drug related offences.
The Directors wish to clarify and make clear that none of the above parties were aware or involved in such action that Mr Cheevers has been accused off.The Pr1mo team was due to amalgamate with Bournemouth Kawasaki to form an elite BSB Team prior to these accusations and the arrest of Mr Cheevers.
The Pr1mo and BKR management team have been working hard along with Chief Technician Ray Stringer over the last two weeks to try to put Pr1mo BKR back on the grid.A 100 per cent unanimous decision was made to continue the Racing and showcase the Pr1mo Energy Drink and Pr1mo Engineering skills.
An official announcement will be made by the Team on February 8 as to the 2012 rider line-up.
