Lowry joins Padgett's for British Superbike title challenge

Irish star Ian Lowry has signed for the Padgett's Honda team to challenge for this year's British Superbike Championship and will ride alongside Luca Scassa in the two-man Elite squad based at Batley.

The youngster has been sidelined for the past two seasons with guest rides for PBM Kawasaki at World Superbike level and Nick Morgan's MSS Kawasaki squad at the end of last year but the former BSB Rookie of the Year has now found a firm berth for 2012.

"It's a great opportunity for me to join a team with so much racing experience as Padgett's and to have someone as fast as Luca as a team-mate. Clive and his boys know as much as anyone about how to make a Honda fast and I think no-one will be turning out a better bike than these guys," said Lowry, speaking to bikesportnews.com last night.

"With so many British championships as the Padgett's have we are most definitely in with a fighting chance come the first round at Brands. There's absolutely no reason that we can't run at the front from the word go and as soon as Luca figures out the rest of the tracks, we're game on as a pair."
