Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes has taken the second British Superbike race win at Thruxton this afternoon. coming back from five seconds down on leaders Tommy Hill and Shane Byrne to take the lead on the final lap and crossing the line six-tenths ahead of the Swan Yamaha man.
Brookes gave himself a mountain to climb off the line, slipping back down the order while Hill, race-one winner Ian Lowry and Byrne made an immediate break with Michael Rutter's Batham's Kawasaki in tow but the Midlander was soon back in the garage with another radiator problem.
Stuart Easton also came from third row of the grid to challenge for a podium spot but just didn't have the pace to slide past PBM Kawasaki team-mate Byrne at the end, so settled for fourth while Lowry, who is still the championship leader, claimed fifth.
Brookes had a half a second in hand as he hunted down and caught first Lowry on lap 15 while Hill went past Byrne for the lead a lap later. Brookes was past Easton on lap 16 and then he went under Byrne on the brakes after they pair had swapped places. He finally and passed Hill on the brakes through the complex and pulled a small gap
Luca Scassa put the second Padgett's Fireblade in sixth, just ahead of Jon Kirkham with with the two WFR Hondas of Alex Lowes and James Westmoreland in eighth and ninth. Noriyuki Haga slipped down the order to tenth after battling Scassa early doors. Michael Laverty finished the race in 13th behind Dan Linfoot and Peter Hickman with Graeme Gowland and Chris Walker rounding out the top 15.
