Australian Glen Richards claimed his third Motorpoint British Supersport pole position of the year in emphatic style posting a lap time of 53.980 with just five minutes remaining of the session.
The Smiths Triumph team took second as well as pole with fellow Adelaide man Billy McConnell 0.1 seconds behind Richards. Sam Warren could only manage third after being in pole position for the majority of the session. He was pushed back to the second row by Pauli Pekkanen with three minutes remaining before the Seton Yamaha rider moved back onto the front row.
Pekkanen looked to take it back with the chequered flag out but the Finn improved his lap time and not position remaining in fourth, 0.5 seconds off of the pole position time.
Luke Mossey moved up to fifth closely followed by Appleyard Macadam’s Deane Brown meaning championship leader Jack Kennedy could only manage the front of the third row in seventh. Glenn Irwin slipped down the order to eighth due to a technical issue that occurred half way through the session meaning he couldn't hold ontp the third he held in the opening minutes. Gearlink Kawasaki’s Ben Wilson rounded out the third row in ninth, 1.1 seconds adrift of Richards.
Second of the cup competitors and leading the fourth row is Luke Jones with Mackrory Racing’s James East taking his best qualifying of the year in eleventh. Reigning National Superstock 1000 champion Richard Cooper failed to translate a promising free practice as he ended up twelfth.
Christian Iddon, Jimmy Hill and local hope David Paton rounded out the top fifteen, covered by 1.7 seconds.
