Ex-World Supersport front-runner Robbin Harms has joined the Doodson Honda team at today's Donington Park test with a view to joining Tom Tunstall's MCE British Superbike squad at the Cadwell Park round later this month.
The Danish rider, who has spent several season in WSS, was forced to put his Moto2 ambitions on hold when his Bimota team after the squad had a disagreement with the factory and didn't have anything to ride until 24 hours ago when Tunstall put in the call. Harms replaces David Anthony who has returned to the States.
"The team had some connections with Robbin so it made sense. He didn't have a ride so we got in touch and he was on a plane almost immediately. We decided it was better to give him a run out at a track he has experience, and he has been on the podium, instead of throwing him in at the Cadwell Park deep end," said Tunstall, speaking to bikesportnews.com at Donington.
"David Anthony had some commitments with his AMA team so it is a shame we haven't had the consistency, especially with his bad luck at Oulton Park and Brands Hatch.
"This is now a new start for us. We had a difficult start to the year but I am glad to see Alex (Polita) back out there on the Panigale. We are now just starting to use the air-bleed system on the bike but I suppose we are now where we should have been at the start of the season."
