Bathams Kawasaki youngster Danny Buchan stormed into the MCE British Superbike top five at Cadwell Park yesterday and said he should have passed works Honda man Jon Kirkham earlier in race one.
The Essex boy, who broke his back in a motocross crash earlier in the year, was very close to podium pace in the first encounter but wasn't able to push past Kirkham until the damp track dried sufficiently to get off line.
“The first race was fantastic, we have been testing a lot and I feel much more comfortable on the Superbike. At Brands I was a bit nervous as it was my first race on the bike and I wasn’t 100% fit, but here at Cadwell I felt relaxed and getting fourth was a brilliant result," said Buchan.
"Looking back I think I could possibly have overtaken Kirkham earlier, but that’s experience. Falling off in the second race was disappointing but I was up at the front again and now I can’t wait for Donington Park.”
