Donington BSB: Westmoreland takes charge in second session

WFR Honda's James Westmoreland was the shock fastest man in this afternoon's second MCE British Superbike free practice which saw both Swan Yamaha men crash while Danny Buchan and Karl Harris are under investigation for an incident at Goddards.

Westmoreland jumped to the top of the timesheet with his final run of laps, going round in 1'30.346 which was enough to remove this morning's quickest man Josh Brookes from the top of the timesheet while and Samsung Honda's Michael Laverty bagged second place late on.

Alex Lowes, who was top for most of the session, slipped back into fourth place while Alastair Seeley and Luca Scassa duked it out for fifth. Barry Burrell put his Buildbase BMW in seventh place and is only six-tenths off the pace while Tommy Hill crashed at Coppice and had to be content with eighth.

His team-mate Noriyuki Haga, who is riding with a broken collarbone, crashed at Redgate but fell on his uninjured shoulder and was only able to set the 16th fastest time. Michael Rutter and Ian Lowry rounded out the top ten.
