Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes has nabbed top spot in the final MCE British Superbike free practice session at Donington Park this morning, using his final lap to edge out the WFR Honda pairing of Alex Lowes and James Westmoreland by just over a tenth of a second.
The Bringelly man lapped at 1'29.843 on his circuit which was enough to bag top spot. Lowes went ahead of Westmoreland, who was sitting pretty as fastest rider until there were only two minutes left, and then Lowes slotted into second with Samsung Honda's Michael Laverty taking fourth.
Padgett's Honda man Luca Scassa is taking advanage of his circuit knowledge and kept reigning champion Tommy Hill behind him while Noriyuki Haga has brushed off his tumble yesterday to take seventh spot and only 0.009s behind his Swan Yamaha team-mate.
Patric Muff, Barry Burrell and Alastair Seeley round out the top ten with Showdown contenders Ian Lowry sitting in 11th and Tommy Bridewell 13th. Moto Rapido Ducati's Scott Smart suffered his first crash in about 400 years when he tucked the front going into Redgate. Robbin Harms was also a faller, as were Alastair Seeley and Tom Grant.
