Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes took his third MCE British Superbike Championship pole position of the year at Donington Park this afternoon but said his quickest lap was full of mistakes.
The Bringelly man posted a 1'30.085, which was a tenth faster than second-placed man Alex Lowes, but fractionally slower than his quickest time from this morning's final free practice session, where he lapped at 1'29.843.
"I do enjoy riding the fast, flowing circuits and maybe that's why we are going well here this weekend. We haven't done much to the bike as I've been fast since Friday, the bike has been working well here, everything is going well here and this is how you want all weekends to go," said Brookes, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"I’m obviously really happy to be on pole position, but if I’m honest the pole lap was riddled with mistakes and I was a bit down on myself. I’d just like to thank the team for sorting a great handling package this weekend on my Tyco Suzuki. It’s probably the best start we’ve had to a weekend all year, so hopefully today sets the standard for tomorrow’s races.”
