Chris Walker Race School’s Lee Jackson stormed to his third Metzeler National Superstock 600 victory of the year after a race long battle with his Championship rival Ben Burke at Donington Park this afternoon.
Burke took the holeshot from second on the grid and quickly opened out a half second advantage over Moto-Breaker’s James Rose and Jackson. The duo closed in on the Australian and by the thrid lap there was a group battle for the win.
Jackson made his move on Rose at the Old Hairpin but it wasn’t going to be as easy to get past the Championship leader. He first had a look under the inside at Redgate but Burke held his line well. Then Jackson tried it on the brakes into the Foggy Esses but once again Burke closed the door.
Jackson finally made his way through at the Old Hairpin once again and started to pull away. He set a new lap record and opened out a half a second advantage before the red flag was brought out after an accident at Schwantz.
Burke held off the close attention of Josh Wainwright to take second and also extended his Championship lead to 18 points over James Rose. Haribo Starmix’s Alex Olsen came through to take fourth ahead of Johnny Blackshaw and James Rose, who slipped back as his tyres deteriorated. Vancraft Triumph’s Joe Collier got the better of South African Bjorn Estment to take seventh.
Knockhill podium finisher Michael Robertson took ninth for the Swan Yamaha team with Tom Fisher rounding out the top ten.
