WFR Honda's Alex Lowes has topped the opening MCE British Superbike free practice session at a wet Silverstone this morning, edging ahead of series leader Josh Brookes by less than a tenth of a second.
Lowes went round in 2'11.902 with Tyco Suzuki's on a 2'11.919 while Buildbase BMNW's Barry Burrell in third and just over a tenth of a second in arrears. Veteran Chris Walker put his Primo Kawasaki in fourth while Peter Hickman popped into fifth place and is only three seconds in arrears after one flying lap.
Splitlath Aprilia new-boy Jakub Smrz was sixth, Luke Quigley seventh, Michael Laverty eighth, Karl Harris ninth and Alastair Seeley tenth. Reigning champion Tommy Hill was 11th while Showdown challenger Shane Byrne did one lap and then thought better of it.
